Documentation Plan
Because this project involves an internship, I will get a letter of completion from the Intern Supervisor. I will have pictures from around the office as well as documented notes from the things I have learned throughout the internship. Along with those items I will have a printed excel timesheet of the hours that I worked each day.
Anticipated Obstacles
Problem Solution
Car breaking down or flat tire Take car to mechanic as soon as possible and ask for a ride from a fellow intern. (I can change a flat tire)
Sick and not able to work I will be proactive and try to get my work done early so a sick day won’t have as big of an impact. I will be in close communication with the Intern Supervisor.
Other emergencies or inconveniences I will miss as little of work as possible and shorten my time away from the office, whether it be family, school, or football related.
Pre-Project Reflection
Because of the length of the Internship that I will be completing at The Leavitt Group over the Summer of 2018, there are a few concerns as well as excitements leading up to the completion of the project. The first thing that comes to my mind is, “Am I qualified?” I have spent hours upon hours in classrooms, study groups, and library sessions to cover materials related to accounting. I have done this so that I can learn and be more knowledgeable in the accounting field. I am now presented with an opportunity to use the skills that I have gained from my hours of study and learning. A concern that I have is if my scholarly findings will translate to the work I will be doing as an intern at The Leavitt Group. I will be engaging in work that I have never done before. While this is a concern, I also look at the upside of engaging in a new experience. Doing so will open doors to new opportunities and different parts of the accounting field that I would never have gotten to see if I didn’t take the opportunity to intern. I am partly anxious to see if I will be able to complete the tasks that will be placed before me, but the other part of me is very excited to see what new things I can learn and what experience I can gain by working with accountants on a daily basis. I am especially looking forward to the networking aspect of the internship. Getting to know people and their backgrounds will be a great experience of teamwork and comradery. I will be working with many new people who will have many great insights on different career choices and life in general. Getting to know these people could be very beneficial and even critical as I seek for a job in the accounting field in the future. I have heard the saying many times, “It is not WHAT you know, but WHO you know.” To me this means that it is important to gain knowledge but it is almost equally important to build relationships both in an office setting, and on a personal level. Being close to those I am working with will make the experience more enjoyable and create a better office atmosphere. I know that this experience will be beneficial in more than just gaining knowledge, but experience, and networking as well. I look forward to the opportunities that await this summer at the Leavitt Group.
